FIBA WASL Season 2 Sub-Zone League Final Phase schedule confirmed

BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The FIBA Regional Office-Asia has confirmed the schedule of the FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL) Season 2 Sub-Zone Leagues Final Phase on Monday.

BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The FIBA Regional Office-Asia has confirmed the schedule of the FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL) Season 2 Sub-Zone Leagues Final Phase on Monday, February 19.

Following the Group Phase's successful conclusion on February 15, 2024, the qualified  clubs will now turn their attention to the much-awaited stage set from March 4, 2024, to May 8, 2024.

A total of 12 teams will play it out in the Final Phase, with reigning FIBA WASL champions Manama headlining the Gulf League Final Phase together with Kuwait Club.

Both teams are bound for the Semi-Finals by topping their respective groups, with their opponents to be determined through the Qualification to Semi-Finals.

Muharraq and Shabab Al Ahli-Dubai, the winner of which will face Manama, will raise the curtains of the FIBA WASL Final Phase on 4 March in Bahrain. The Kazma-Al Rayyan series, on the other hand, begins the following day in Kuwait, with the victor set to forge a showdown with Kuwait Club.

Meanwhile, reigning West Asia League champions Al Riyadi banner the Final Phase cast of their sub-zone together with another unbeaten team in Shahrdary Gorgan. The Lebanese powerhouse will be taking on the winner between domestic rival Sagesse and Al-Ittihad Ahli, whose series will start on March 7 in Ghazir.

Set to open the West Asia Final Phase will be Al Shorta and Al-Ittihad Ahli on March 6 in Iraq, both of which are motivated to book a Semi-Final date with Gorgan.

The Qualification to Semi-Finals in each FIBA WASL Sub-Zone League will pit the second and third seeds in each group against each other. Teams will play in a best-of-3 series, with the home court advantage going to the second-placed clubs. The winners will then join the teams that topped their respective groups and earned an outright spot in the semis, which will also be a best-of-3 affair.

Winners will advance to the Final and qualify for the FIBA WASL Final 8, while the losing sides will face off for the two remaining Final 8 spots in a knockout game.
