FIBA WASL Final 8 2024 Semis picture complete

DOHA (Qatar) - The Semi-Finals cast of the FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL) Final 8 2024 have been completed as the Group Phase concluded on Wednesday, May 29.

Defending two-time West Asia League champions Al Riyadi and reigning back-to-back Gulf League titlists Kuwait Club headline the ensemble of the cross-over knockout stage, which is scheduled to be played on Friday, May 31, still at the Lusail Multipurpose Hall.

Top seed of Group A, Al Riyadi will face Shahrdary Gorgan, the no. 2 seed of Group B, in the Semis opener set at 15:00 local time in a rematch of the last two West Asia Finals.

Al Riyadi emerged as the best team in their group by way of a 3-0 sweep. Gorgan, on the other hand, settled for second with a 2-1 card after bowing to Kuwait Club.

Kuwait Club instead finished as the top team of their group with a 3-0 slate.  They will meet Sagesse SC, the 2-seed in Group A after finishing with a 2-1 record, at 18:00 local time in their bid to return to the Final and win the crown this time after a runner-up finish to Manama.

This season's Final 8 will see the emergence of a new champion after the inaugural winners finished last in Group A. The Bahraini side lost all of their three assignments.

Winners of the Semis will not only vie for the coveted FIBA WASL trophy on Sunday, June 1, but will also book themselves a spot in the Basketball Champions League Asia (BCL Asia).

Losing sides, on the other hand, will figure in a Third-Place Game set on Sunday as well.
