Colombia and Brazil to play for Gold, qualified to the FIBA U18 Women's Americas Championship 2020
Colombia and Brazil won their respective Semi-Final match-up against Ecuador and Argentina, earning the right to play for the title of the South American U17 Women’s Championship 2019.
BARRANQUILLA (Colombia) - Colombia and Brazil won their respective Semi-Final match-up against Ecuador and Argentina, earning the right to play for the title of the South American U17 Women’s Championship 2019.
With their qualification to the Final, Brazil and Colombia qualified to next year’s FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship. Meanwhile, Argentina and Ecuador will play for the Bronze of the South American U17 championship and the last available ticket to the FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship 2020.
Colombia kept up the good pace before their fans and beat Ecuador 58-51. The home team took control of the game during the second quarter, partly to the good offensive performance of Daniela González, who culminated with 18 points and the same number of rebounds. A determining factor was the 23 offensive rebounds that Colombia took, which also added 23 points in second chances.
In the other Semi-Final, Brazil defeated Argentina 61-60 in a hard-fought game, that was decided in the last seconds of the game. Maisa Pereira scored three free-throws in the winding moments of the game to give the Brazilian squad the victory. Adrielly Francisco led the scoring for Brazil with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Federica Del Bosco and Tondi scored 14 and 13 points, respectively, for Argentina.
In the Reclassification Round, Camila Kirshenbaum scored 27 points and commanded Uruguay's victory over Venezuela, 65-33. For its part, Paraguay defeated Chile 54-51.
This Saturday, Uruguay and Paraguay will play for fifth place and Chile and Venezuela for seventh.
