    The Semi-Finals are set!

    TUNJA (FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2019) – Brazil and Paraguay took the last two available spots in the Semi-Finals of the South American Women’s Championship 2018.

    TUNJA (FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2019) – Brazil and Paraguay took the last two available spots in the Semi-Finals of the South American Women’s Championship 2018 after claiming wins on the last day of the Group Phase. Meanwhile, Argentina claimed the top of Group B.

    Paraguay qualified to the Semi-Finals of the South American Women’s Championship after an 81-73 win over Venezuela. Paraguay had a better start and won the first quarter 22-9. Throughout the remainder of the game, Paraguay kept a safe distance on the scoreboard thanks to an amazing 29-point performance from Paola Ferrari. The team coached by Juan Pablo Feliu celebrated the win and the qualification to the Semi-Finals.

    Ecuador claimed its first win of the South American Women’s Championship 2018 after a 58-51 win over Peru. Dayana Salcedo led the scoring for the Ecuadorians with 15 points. Meanwhile, in a losing effort, Ana Farfan led the scoring for Peru with 27 points.

    Brazil took the top spot of Group A following a 99-66 win over Chile. The Brazilian squad led all the categories of the stats, with clear dominance on the painted area. Brazil scored 46 of its points from the paint and out-rebounded the Chilean team 43-25. Brazil celebrated the win. Jacqueline de Paula led the scoring for the Brazilians with 20 points.

    Argentina took the top of Group B following a 67-61 win over Colombia. The game started with a 10-2 from the host. Argentina fought back, and the first quarter ended with a two-point lead for the Colombians. The teams showed great parity and with 3 minutes to play of the fourth quarter, Argentina tied the score at 59. Argentina took the lead after free-throws with a minute left and headed to the win. Agostina Burani led the offense for the Argentinians with 17 points

    The Semi-Finals of the South American Women’s Championship 2018 will feature Argentina vs Paraguay and Brazil vs Colombia.

    In the Reclassification Round, Venezuela vs Peru and Ecuador vs Chile.

    Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Paraguay earned tickets to the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2019.
