    Official Draw of the South American U17 Championship set for Thursday

    SAN JUAN (FIBA U18 Americas Championship) - The International Basketball Federation in the Americas announced that the Official Draw for the South American U17 Championship 2017 will take place on Thursday, May 25 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

    The Draw will be held at the FIBA Americas Regional Office at 15:00 (GMT-4), and broadcasted live in Spanish on FIBA’s YouTube Channel.

    The South American U17 Championship will be played in Lima, Peru from July 15-20 and will feature the participation of the National Teams from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Perú, Uruguay and Venezuela.

    During the Draw, the participating teams will be divided in two (2) groups for the first phase of the competition.

    The pairs for the South American U17 Championship Draw are:

    Pot 1: Argentina - Chile
    Pot 2: Paraguay - Venezuela
    Pot 3: Uruguay - Colombia
    Pot 4: Bolivia
    Pot 5: Ecuador – Perú

    The competition system of the tournament consists of two phases. In the Group Phase, the nine (9) participating teams will be divided into two (2) groups. Teams will play in round-robin format for three days. The best team from each group will advance to the Championship Game.

    The top-three teams from the tournament will qualify to the FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2018, that will be played in St. Catharines, Canada from June 11-17, 2018.
