SEOUL (Korea) - Korea are returning two big-time stars for their upcoming FIBA Women’s Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament campaign in New Zealand.
Highly-touted Park Ji Su is back to put on the national team jersey after missing the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2019 this past September. The 20-year-old will be a much needed boost down low, especially now after wrapping up her second season in the WNBA with the Las Vegas Aces. Park averaged 10.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game at Women’s Asia Cup 2017.
The other big name making a return is 29-year-old veteran Kim Danbi. The multi-faceted forward has starred for Korea in multiple occasions already and is more than eager to aid in their quest towards qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
seven players will be returning from the recent Women’s Asia Cup 2019 run which saw Korea finish at 4th place, led by Kang Leeseul who topped her teammates in points and rebounds.
Korea were drawn into Group A along with China, Philippines, and Pre-Qualifying Tournament host New Zealand. The games will be played from November 14-17 at the Trusts Arena in Auckland.
Korea will be playing their first game against China on November 14 at 17:00 (GMT +13).
