RÍO DE JANEIRO (Brazil) – The recent winner of the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup bronze medal announced today its 12-player list for the FIBA Women’s Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament, which will take place November 14-17, simultaneously, in the cities of Edmonton, Canada and Bahía Blanca, Argentina.
Coach José Neto indicated that his 12 players are:
Débora Costa |
Lays da Silva |
Isabela Ramona |
Patrícia Teixeira |
Tainá Paixão |
Tati Pacheco |
Raphaella Monteiro |
Clarissa Santos |
Damiris Dantas |
Mari Dias |
Stephanie Soares |
Erika de Souza |
“We defined the list for this competition after an excellent training phase. We are evolving as a team. Every player improved and this allowed us to go one step further,” Coach Neto said.
Brazil, in Group B that will take place at the Dow Center in Bahía Blanca, will start the tournament against the USA on November 14th. Then, on 16, the Brazilians will face Colombia and Argentina on the 17th.
“We will have tough games. Colombia was our toughest opponent in the AmeriCup. We beat Argentina, but this will be totally different, they will be playing at home. The USA is the World and Olympic champion, there is not much to say,” added the coach.
The top two teams from the group will qualify to the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament in February 2020.
