TOKYO (Japan) - The first group games of the Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament are in the books and it's Belgian ace Emma Meesseman who takes home top-performer honors following her spectacular debut.

Inspiring her side to a historic first victory in the competition, she proved too hot to handle for Australia's defense as she racked up a stunning 39 efficiency in the 85-70 success. That came off the back of Meesseman's massive 32 point, 9 rebound, 5 assist, 4 steal effort.

Joining Meesseman is her Belgian Cats' colleague Julie Allemand, who was fantastic in the backcourt and also accumulated a double-double of 16 points and 11 assists.

In fact, special double-double debuts are a theme, with Yueru Li of China collecting the second best efficiency rating after going to work in brutal fashion against Puerto Rico. She paced her team with a deadly 9-of-11 shooting effort for 21 points, as well as grabbing 12 rebounds and handing out 5 assists in China's 97-55 victory.

A'Ja Wilson of USA showed her teeth with a fine 19 points and 13 rebounds as USA eased out Nigeria 81-72, while Astou Ndour of Spain rounds out the five having posted 28 points and 10 boards in Monday's 74-70 win against Korea.
