Thailand, Indonesia join Philippines, Vietnam in Semi-Fnals following wins in SEA Games 2019
MANILA (Philippines) - Thailand and Indonesia claimed wins in the day's action of men's basketball to secure Semi-finals tickets which Philippines crushed Myanmar to stay undefeated.
MANILA (Philippines) - With only three games scheduled in men’s basketball action today in the SEA Games 2019, Thailand and Indonesia were able to confirm their spots into the Semi-Finals with wins. The Philippines continued to delight the home crowd with a resounding win over Myanmar to stay undefeated.
Indonesia needed a win in the opening game and jumped out to a 30-13 first quarter against Cambodia. They never looked back and won 100-71. Indonesia had 4 players score in double-digits in this game, resulting in a victory that eventually catapulted them to the Semi-Finals.
Cambodia’s Joseph Hoeup poured in 42 points and 11 rebounds for the losing squad.
Joining Indonesia in the next round will be Thailand, who completed a sweep of Group B by beating Malaysia, 80-69. The game was tightly contested in the first half, but costly turnovers allowed Thailand to break away until the final buzzer.
Tyler Lamb shined once again with 22 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 6 steals for Thailand.
In the final day of the Group Phase for men’s basketball at SEA Games 2019, the Philippines had no trouble putting away Myanmar, 136-67.
The Philippines saw their opponents hang around the first quarter, up by only 8 points, before blasting away for a 42-point second quarter to erase all doubts of a victory.
Matthew Wright had 20 points in the first half alone to finish with 29 points on 8-16 shooting from downtown.
The Semi-Finals will be played on 9 December, with the Philippines going up against Indonesia and Thailand facing Vietnam for tickets to the title game.
