LUANDA (FIBA Africa Champions Cup Women 2017) – Angolan giants Primeiro de Agosto and Mozambican champions Ferroviario de Maputo find themselves in a tough Group B at the FIBA Africa Champions Cup Women 2017 to be held in the Angolan capital from November 11-19.
Mozambican center Leia Dongue, who turns out for Primeiro de Agosto will be looking to orchestrate her side's search for glory against her country-mates but like was their game at the Zone 6 Qualifiers last month, this specific tie will once again be a hard nut to crack.
Driven by the hunger to avenge that loss, Dongue will be key to Primeiro de Agosto's quest for the continental title that they last won in 2015 on home soil and what better way to replicate that performance two years later.
On the other hand, Ferroviario de Maputo feel that it is about time they asserted themselves at the top of women's club basketball in Africa and coming off an unbeaten run in the Zone 6 Qualifiers, they will be taking no prisoners.
Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), winners of the Zone 5 Qualifiers in Uganda join them along with DC Motema Pembe from the Democratic Republic of Congo to spice up matters in a group that is expected to create sparks.
In Group A, the reigning African champions and hosts InterClube have been drawn with Algeria outfit GS Petroliers, AS Vita from Democratic Republic of Congo, Equity Hawks of Kenya and Nigeria's First Bank.
First Bank, who are eyeing their first title since 2009, know that a good start to the continental competition will go a long way in helping them stay on course for their ultimate objective.
