The spectators in Melilla, Spain remained silent ahead of the Spain's FIBA EuroBaket 2017 exhibition game against Senegal. The FIBA U16 European Championship 2017 also observed a moment of silence before Spain's Classification 5-8 game against Lithuania.
Spain is in a state of mourning and shock after two separate terror attacks. On Thursday afternoon, a group of terrorists drove a van along Barcelona's crowded Las Ramblas thoroughfare into tourists and killed 13 people and left more than 100 injured. Later in the day, another attack occurred in the coastal resort of Cambrils, where five terrorists were killed by police as they started to attack onlookers after their car had sped along the town's promenade and crashed and flipped over.

"Sad and horrified by the tragic events that took place today at the #Ramblas of #Barcelona," Spain star Pau Gasol, who is from Barcelona, said on Twitter. "All my support to the victims and their families during these incredibly tough times."
In an interview with the Spanish Federation, and media prior to Spain's game against Senegal, Gasol was quoted as saying, "It was not only an attack on the city of Barcelona, but also on the peace and humanity of the world. I hope it is the last, but possibly not,"adding, "to unity and cohesion. Together, union is the way to overcome tragedy."
Spain men won the warm-up game 80-69, as preparations for FIBA EuroBasket 2017 enter the final fortnight.
