CONAKRY (AfroBasket Women 2015) - Guinea will play at AfroBasket Women 2015 despite loosing both games in a Zone II two-leg Qualifier against Mali on Sunday and Monday.
Guinea, fielding a team consisting of domestic league players, lost 108-30 on Sunday and 94-21 on Monday.
They earned their ticket for Africa's biggest basketball tournament for Women, as Mali are already qualified for the event by virtue of their fifth-place finish at AfroBasket Women 2013.
The series win means Mali have punched their ticket for the 11th All Africa Games which will take place from 4-19 September in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.
Guinea become the 11th team to take its place in AfroBasket Women 2015, which will be played in Yaounde, Cameroon from 24 September-3 October.
The 11 known teams that will compete at AfroBasket Women 2015 are: Algeria, Angola, Cameroon, Gabon, Guinea, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Uganda, Senegal, South Africa. The 12th and final team will be determined through the attribution of a wild card.
At AfroBasket Women 2015, Guinea will play in Group B and face off against reigning champion, Angola, Senegal, Algeria, Nigeria and the recipient of the wild card.
In Monday's second leg of the Zone II Qualifier, Djeneba Ndiaye - the MVP at the 2014 FIBA Africa U18 Women's Championship - had a game-high 18 points while Nassira Traore added 15.
Guinea's Djiba Mariam Toure led her team with 10 points.
AfroBasket Women 2015 is a qualifier for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The winner of the tournament will secure automatic qualification, while the teams that finish second and third will book places in the 12-team 2016 FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament (WOQT).
