    FIBA Regional Office Asia hold referee clinic in Syria

    DAMASCUS (Syria) - A referees clinic was held by FIBA Regional Office - Asia from July 13-16 in Al Faihaa, Damascus.

    DAMASCUS (Syria) - A referees clinic was organized by the FIBA Regional Office - Asia from July 13-16 in Al Faihaa Sport Complex, Damascus, Syria.

    Over 70 participants attended the clinic in Damascus, including FIBA Referees, National Referees, Table Officials and Commissioners. 

    The purpose of this clinic was to provide the latest updates related to refereeing and scouting potential FIBA and National potential referees. This falls in line with the plans of the Regional Office to improve the quality of officiating in the region, which in result will heighten the level of competition. With the success of this clinic, Asia will continue to make strides forward towards to improve and develop the game of basketball.

    "We are proud to host the first FIBA referee clinic in Syria," said Maher Abu Hilaneh – Head of Syrian Basketball Federation (SYRBF) refereeing committee.

    "I want to thank the FIBA Regional Office - Asia for its effort in organizing this fruitful event in Damascus. We’re looking forward for more similar activities in the future." he added.

    "It was important for me to attend this clinic and be part of it," said FIBA referee Alia Al Yassin. "It certainly enhanced my knowledge listening to the experience of the instructors."
