FIBA Americas new headquarters officially unveiled in special ceremony
MIAMI (USA) - FIBA Americas unveiled its new headquarters in Miami, Florida, on Friday. Known as "The Gateway to The Americas", the city is now the home of FIBA in the region.

Numerous guests were present for a ribbon cutting ceremony and heard from FIBA President Hamane Niang, FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis as well as FIBA Americas President Carol Callan and FIBA Executive Director Americas Carlos Alves.
FIBA President Hamane Niang said: "I am really pleased first of all to visit our new Americas headquarters in Miami. This region has been so important for international basketball over the years and now we have a excellent location to attend to our daily business as it relates to governing basketball in the zone. I know that all the federations will be eager to visit and see first hand this impressive new home."
Secretary General Andreas Zagklis said: "To have the FIBA Americas home in Miami is something we are very excited about. FIBA has now an office in the country where our sport was invented and from here can service more effectively the National Federations across the continent. The building itself is functional, attractive and welcoming. It will be a wonderful place to not only work from but also for officials from all corners of the Americas to meet. We are grateful to Puerto Rico for hosting us so warmly for a long time. Thanks to everyone for making this a reality."
Other officials in attendance were FIBA Honorary President Horacio Muratore, FIBA Americas Executive Committee members Usie Richards, Marcelo Bedoya, Yamil Bukele and Michele O’Keefe, while presidents of numerous basketball federations were on hand. They included Kenneth Vrolijk of Aruba, Claire Mitchell of Trinidad & Tobago, Ricardo Vairo of Uruguay, Yum Ramos of Puerto Rico and Fabian Borro of Argentina.
The FIBA Americas Zone Board was also present, as were FIBA Treasurer Ingo Weiss and FIBA Senior Director Markus Studer.
A special guest at the milestone event was former Puerto Rico national team star Carlos Arroyo.

The new headquarters of the FIBA Americas is just a couple of miles from the Miami City Hall and well connected to the Miami International Airport, located at 3480 Main Highway. It has 4,205 square feet of open space layout.
"We are thrilled that the new headquarters is now up and running, and Miami is a world-class city that offers numerous advantages," said FIBA Americas President, Carol Callan.
"As we look at the present and the future, our new location will help us undertake a myriad of tasks related to helping the game of basketball continue to move in the right direction in our region, hand by hand with the National Federations."
