FIBA Africa discusses New Competition System and Calendar in Morocco

CASABLANCA - Julien Farran, the Competitions' Manager of the FIBA Regional Office - Africa, met with members of the Moroccan Basketball Federation (FRMBB) over the weekend to discuss the implementation of FIBA's New Competition System that will come into effect in 2017.
The FIBA official, who outlined the process of the new competition system and calendar, also explained to the country's basketball stakeholders why FIBA and its Regional Offices have decided to launch a new qualification system for FIBA Basketball World Cup and the regions' senior men's continental cups.
In the same vein, Khalil El Rouas, FRMBB's Director of national teams said: "The FIBA New Competition System is a good thing as it will definitely add value to our national teams."
Malle Semega, the Director of Operations of Morocco's national governing body for basketball, went on to say: "It's obvious that with the FIBA New Competition System we will enter a new era of world basketball. This system has many advantages. And our national associations have to work hard to change things. It is important to set better organisation because the new competition system will be beneficial for the development of the game on the continent."
