    Wael Arakji voted Player of the Year (Men) 2023 in Asia

    BEIRUT (Lebanon) - 2023 has been quite a year for basketball in Asia. We’re taking the time to celebrate the best in Asia over the past year and letting you decide in a FAN VOTE which stands out the most.

    BEIRUT (Lebanon) - After making his FIBA Basketball World Cup debut, Wael Arakji has won the Player of the Year (Men) 2023 Fan Vote in Asia.

    Arakji led Lebanon in scoring and assists at the World Cup 2023 where Lebanon played the Group Phase in Indonesia. He averaged 18.0 points to go with 2.8 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game to help Lebanon score two wins against Cote d'Ivoire and Iran.

    The 29-year-old guard was also the star of his club team, Al Riyadi, as they won the inaugural West Asia Super League (WASL) - West Asia title. Arakji averaged 17.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 2.4 steals per game in the club competition.

    The Fan Vote was be organized in brackets of three rounds - Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and Final.

    Fans had one day from when the bracket was posted (each day at 13:00 GMT +2 starting from 28 December 2023) to show their support for their favorite player.

    The players with the most votes at 12:00 GMT +2 advanced to the next round until the Fan Vote was decided on 31 December 2023.
