    Big third quarter run propels Turkey past Australia, into first Semis

    HERAKLION (2015 FIBA U19 World Championship) - Turkey advanced to the Semi-Finals of the FIBA U19 World Championship for the first time by using a big third quarter run for an 81-70 victory over Australia

    HERAKLION (2015 FIBA U19 World Championship) - Turkey advanced to the Semi-Finals of the FIBA U19 World Championship for the first time by using a big third quarter run for an 81-70 victory over Australia at the 2015 U19 Worlds. Four players scored at least 14 points for Turkey.

    Turning Point: Australia had just gone on an 11-0 run to go up 43-34 when Turkey exploded with a 19-2 run over the final five minutes of the third quarter with Furkan Korkmaz scoring nine points and Okben Ulubay hitting for seven.

    Stats Don't Lie: Turkey made 49 percent of their shots to 44 percent for Australia and the Europeans won the rebound battle 38-30 including 12 offensive rebounds. 

    Game Hero: Korkmaz was scoreless with 4:42 minutes left in the third quarter. Then he exploded for 15 points in next 9 minutes to blow game open. He also had six rebounds, three assists and two steals. 

    The Bottom Line: After Turkey had played four games of up and down basketball, they finally showed a full 40 minutes of solid basketball in putting away up-start Australia. Turkey will take on the winner between Croatia and Canada in the Semi-Finals.
