MIES, Switzerland - The referees that will officiate across FIBA's world level competitions over the summer have been confirmed.

A total of 106 referees from across FIBA's five regions will be calling the games at the 2016 FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments (WOQT) in Nantes, France (13-19 June); the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championships for Men and Women in Zaragoza, Spain (22 June-3 July); the 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments (OQTs) in Belgrade, Serbia, Manila, Philippines and Turin, Italy (4-10 July); and the Olympic Basketball Tournaments for Men and Women at the Rio 2016 Summer Games (6-21 August).

The group consists of tested individuals who have the much-needed combination of experience and proven potential. Through the FIBA iRef platform, all selected referees have taken part in a rigorous preparation programme that saw them undergo a special physical training course and monitoring, studying video clips as well as working on important aspects such as game management and team-work.

"This group of referees has been carefully selected and brings the highest standards of officiating to be expected for basketball's biggest competitions," said FIBA Head of Refereeing Carl Jungebrand. "We look forward to counting on them to bring the high standards of officiating to the biggest tournaments in the world."

During the competitions, each game will be analysed by referees' supervisors using selected video footage and providing feedback to the referees, thereby ensuring that all calls are analysed by FIBA's Referee Department.
