    Semi-Final Phase: Quilmes dominant, Guaros withstood a valiant Cimarrones

    Quilmes started the second semifinal group with a dominant performance over Aguada 76-57. From the get-go, the team from Argentina escaped to a comfortable lead after a 24-12 first quarter. Eric Flor led the way for Quilmes with 15 points, as Aguada couldn’t catch-up to the opponent. With 21 assists, the team from Mar del Plata kept adding, never looked back and celebrated the win.

    It came down to the last play of the game, but Guaros withstood the pressure from Cimarrones and took the win 83-81. Guaros relied heavily on the long-range, that wasn’t falling in, but then Duro’s team took full advantage of Cimarrones’ 23 turnovers to remain on top during most of the game. Cimarrones chipped from the difference and tied the game during the last moments of the game. Diego Garcia hit a three-point shot and gave breathing room for the home team. Cimarrones couldn’t capitalize on the last ball of the game, and Guaros de Lara celebrated the win. Diego Garcia led the scoring for Guaros with 21 points.

    Tomorrow on the second day of the Semi-Final group, Cimarrones will face Quilmes and Aguada will match-up against the host.

    The top team from the second Semi-Final Group will face Estudiantes de Concordia in the best-of-five Final of the DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana.
