CONCORDIA (DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana 2017) – In a thrilling game, Guaros de Lara defeated Estudiantes Concordia 82-79, to win the Final 3-2 and take home the Horacio Muratore Cup that describes the team as the DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana 2017 Champion.

Just like in the previous games, the start was close and even. Guaros had a better second quarter and went on to take a 13-point lead. Estudiantes took the ball to Doblas, and from the paint the home team cut the difference to 4 points at half-time. A Heissler Guillent three-pointer took Guaros to a 6-point lead with 5 minutes to play. Guaros went on to win the third quarter 22-16, to take a 10-point lead into the last ten minutes of the game. The host started the final quarter with an 8-2 run to cut the difference down to 5 points with 7 minutes to go. Doblas scored four points and the difference was cut to one. Guaros scored, but Mateo Bolivar tied the game with a minute to go. Colmenares grabbed an offensive rebound and scored from the paint to get the lead back to the Venezuelan club. Bethelmy scored from long range and Guaros took a four-point lead with 8 seconds left. Smith answered back quickly, and Estudiantes fouled Jose Vargas. Vargas scored both attempts. Estudiantes had time to get a shot off, but
Bethelmy came out with a steal and Guaros took the championship win.

Heissler Guillent was selected MVP of the DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana after leading his team with 16.8 points in the 2017 edition and scoring 18 points in Game 4 of the Final.
Guaros de Lara is the first non-Argentinian or Brazilian team to win the Liga Sudamericana and is now a Grand Slam champion, after winning every title available to the team, the Venezuelan Professional League, the DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana (2017), the DIRECTV Liga de las Americas back-to-back (2016,2017) and the FIBA Intercontinental Cup (2016).
Guaros de Lara and Estudiantes Concordia will participate in the 2018 edition of the DIRECTV Liga de las Americas.
