FIBA Europe Cup - Tuesday round-up

MUNICH (FIBA Europe Cup) - Another tenacious effort from the fearless newbies, but it is the 2016 Final Four hosts going 3-1 in Group A. All this and more in Tuesday's wrap.

MUNICH (FIBA Europe Cup) - Brussels Basketball continued to impress in their European debut season, but it was ultimately Elan Chalon sneaking home 78-74 to go 3-1 in FIBA Europe Cup Group A.

Brussels Basketball have so far kept every one of their three appearances close despite not yet winning, and their fourth European outing followed the same plot line.

Making the trip south to France, the men from the Belgian capital showed little fear taking on their more fancied opponents, with the lead changing hands on 16 occasions. However John Roberson provided the clutch plays for Chalon at the death, coming up with two three-pointers within the last 45 seconds to seal the deal.

"It was the same situation as the game in Brussels, it was a one possession game and John Roberson hit some big shots, the same as tonight," reflected Brussels guard Chris Dowe. "He's a pretty good player."

Brussels also need to look no further than their free-throw shooting, only making 14-of-21, the telling stat in a cat-and-mouse encounter.

Another tradition that seemed to be keeping up on Tuesday night was the almost daily habit of one game going to overtime. This time it was the turn of Antwerp Giants, and their visitors, FC Porto. The host shad a chance to win it in regulation, but Jason Clark's tap-in was deemed to have come after the buzzer.

Antwerp then made easy work of it in added time, pulling away for the 79-72 win, Gavin Ware finishing with an impressive 22-point, 15-rebound double-double.
