HELSINKI (FIBA U20 European Championship 2016) – Kostja Mushidi shone on another day of drama at the FIBA U20 European Championship in Helsinki, Finland.
The German guard, facing some players two years his senior, calmly converted two of three free throws having been fouled shooting from long range as time expired, to snatch a 78-77 win against Lithuania.
This took Mushidi’s tally to 26 points in just 22 minutes of action and secured Germany a second-place finish in Group A, ahead of Lithuania in third.

Turkey topped the group after cruising to victory against Hungary.
Ukraine also came up with a big finish, recovering from 23 points down to force overtime against Latvia before prevailing 72-70.
Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk scored six of his 17 points in the extra session as Ukraine sealed first position in Group C with Serbia finishing in second after a win against Slovenia.
In Group B, hosts Finland thrilled their 7,000-strong support by taking down another perennial power, felling France 70-65.
But it is Spain that top Group B after overpowering Israel 90-71, pushing the hosts back into second.
And in Group D, Denzel Anderson’s late tip-in gave Sweden victory against Italy, despite having trailed for more than 30 minutes, to finish above their opponents.
Czech Republic were already assured to sit atop that group, but closed the opening round with defeat to fourth-placed Belgium.
