Malta and Georgia into Semi-Finals

TBILISI (FIBA U18 Women's European Championship 2016 Division C) - Malta survived a late Kosovo run to book their place in the Semi-Finals. Georgia and Andorra had no trouble with Gibraltar and Wales respectively.
Kosovo were 49-41 behind with less than four minutes to go, but Flaka Kelmendi connected on a couple of three-pointers to bring them back within two. Malta answered on the defensive end. Kosovo did not score another point in the final two minutes as Kimberly Pirotta and Hannah Al Tumi stretched the final score for a 53-47 Malta win. Pirotta and Al Tumi had 15 points each, while the latter also grabbed 14 rebounds for the winning side. Kelmendi led Kosovo with 15 points and 16 rebounds.
Malta and Georgia will fight it out for first place in Group B, as the hosts remained unbeaten with a 92-30 win over Gibraltar. Georgia led 25-4 after the first period and 50-12 at the half. Elene Iluridze scored a game-high 21 points, Viktoria Gegeshidze added 20 more in just 21 minutes of play, Natalia Otkhmezuri dished out eight assists to go with her 17 points. Arianne Garro had a double-double of 12 points and 14 rebounds for Gibraltar.
Gibraltar and Kosovo will be playing in the Classification Group 5-7, where they await their opponent from Group A. Andorra got their first win in Group A, cruising to a 72-23 triumph over Wales. Laura Bueno Bernad led four players in double-digits for Andorra with 18 points. Maria Martin Moline finished with 12, Mariona Palau Vidal had 11, and Mireia Magrinya Alonso added 10 more.
Wales' task does not get any easier, as they play unbeaten Armenia on Sunday.
