    Ireland roll up sleeves against Monaco; Iliadis, Cyprus sting Kosovo at the death

    PRISHTINA (FIBA U18 European Championship 2018, Division C) – Ireland moved their record to an unmatched 3-0 in Group A at the FIBA U18 European Championship 2018, Division C with a win over Monaco.

    PRISHTINA (FIBA U18 European Championship 2018, Division C) – Ireland moved their record to an unmatched 3-0 in Group A at the FIBA U18 European Championship 2018, Division C after getting the better of Monaco in Tuesday's action in Prishtina.

    One of three undefeated teams in the tournament but the only one to have won three games, Ireland topped Monaco 80-71, as David Murray posted a 32-point and 15-rebound double-double with 3 assists.

    The Paul Kelleher-coached Irish side had two more players in double figures, with Paul Kelly collecting 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists, and Darragh O'Sullivan chipping in with 12 points and 8 boards.


    Moldova and Ireland are still unbeaten in Group A

    In the other Group A fixture of the day, Moldova improved to a 2-0 mark and sent Armenia to the bottom of the standings with an 86-72 victory behind Victor Legosin's 32-point explosion. For Armenia, who dropped to 0-3 in the standings, Artyom Pechenjyan had 27 points.

    Meanwhile, in Group B, Polys Iliadis broke the hearts of tournament hosts Kosovo, giving Cyprus a 64-63 victory with a clutch game-winner with just four seconds on the clock.

    Iliadis finished the contest with a game-high 20 points, while Georgios Tretiakov double-doubled with 13 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. One of three Kosovar players in double figures, Rron Ukaj had team-highs of 14 points and 13 rebounds.

    San Marino triumphed against Gibraltar in the only other game of the day, inscribing a 68-55 victory behind the efforts of Nicolo Botteghi and Pietro Ugolino, who scored 17 points apiece.

    Cyprus sit atop the Group B standings with a 2-0 record, with Kosovo and San Marino tied for second place with identical 1-1 marks.
