DUBLIN (FIBA U18 Women's European Championship Division B) – Ireland have moved quickly to put their faith in the players who will look to make a splash when they host this year's FIBA U18 Women's European Championship Division B.

Head coach Tommy O’Mahony has underlined the emerging strength of Irish women's basketball after the roster was announced.

Ireland roster for FIBA U18 Women’s European Championship Division B
Maggie Byrne  Bronagh Power Cassidy Dayna Finn Ella McCloskey
Rachel Huijsdens  Claire Melia Amy Murphy  Annaliese Murphy
Maeve O’Seaghdha  Maeve Phelan  Louise Scannell Sorcha Tiernan

He stated: "It was a very difficult decision to select 12 players to go forward for the Irish Under 18 Women's team as there is such a depth of young talent here in the country.

"We have been working hard at training and are really looking forward to the months ahead where we will get to represent Ireland here in our own country."

The National Basketball Arena in Tallaght and the National Indoor Arena in Abbotstown are the two venues for the tournament, with a passionate local crowd guaranteed.

Ireland are likely to look towards inspiration from the returning Claire Melia, who led her team in points, rebounds and assists in the competition last year. There will also be excitement around the continued evolution of Dayna Finn who caught the eye at the FIBA U16 Women's European Championship Division B last summer.
