KAUNAS (FIBA U16 Women's European Championship 2018) - Laughter filled the hallways of the Park Inn Kaunas on Monday morning, as FIBA concluded another well-received Players Workshop.

The workshop, hosted by former FIBA Women's EuroBasket champion Lina Brazdeikyte and reining EuroCup Women champion Gintare Petronyte, was attended by all 16 teams currently in Kaunas, Lithuania for the FIBA U16 Women's European Championship.

On the agenda for the day was the importance of social media for the modern player and how to deal with the positive and negative aspects of being on social media as a high-profile athlete.

Petronyte, who was also a previous FIBA Europe Young Women's Player of the Year, talked about the importance of blocking out the negative comments and conceding that the reality of being in the public spotlight is coping with 'haters' alongside the true fans.

For her part, Brazdeikyte cited the key role media play in professional sports, offering the simple yet timeless advice to maintain a positive outlook when talking with the media, reminding the players that a smile goes a long way following a game, regardless of the outcome.

It was the third such workshop held in Europe this summer, following on from the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2018 in Minsk, Belarus and the FIBA U16 European Championship 2018 in Novi Sad, Serbia.
