    Malta and Armenia to enter Semi-Finals in pole positions

    GIBRALTAR (FIBA U16 Women’s European Championship 2017, Division C) - Malta topped Group A at the FIBA U16 Women’s European Championship 2017, Division C by defeating Kosovo.

    GIBRALTAR (FIBA U16 Women’s European Championship 2017, Division C) - Malta topped Group A at the FIBA U16 Women's European Championship 2017, Division C by defeating Kosovo for their second victory of the tournament, while Armenia and Wales clinched Semi-Finals tickets in Group B.

    In spite of coming away with a 71-63 win, it wasn't as easy of a game for the Maltese girls as expected, with Kosovo up all the way into the final quarter of the contest. However, a powerful last-period push got Malta across the finish line.

    Malta secured first seed in Group A ahead of the Semi-Finals

    Sasha Lecuyer had 22 points and 11 rebounds for the winners, Michela Zammit Cordina added 13 points, while Agnesa Rrahmani and Enisa Kamerolli collected 19 and 16 points respectively for Kosovo.

    Malta will now play Wales in the Semi-Finals, who booked a place in the next round as runners-up of Group B after beating out the Principality of Monaco for the spot with a 47-45 overtime victory.

    Freya Williams scored 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the winners, while Zoe Masson finished the game with 15 points and 14 rebounds for Monaco.

    Wales outlasted Monaco in overtime to book a Semi-Final spot

    Meanwhile, Armenia stayed undefeated in the other Group A game of the day by getting the better of Gibraltar 65-44 to improve to a perfect 3-0 record and book a Semi-Finals date with Georgia.

    Both of the Play-Offs and the Classification Group battles for 5th-7th places involving Kosovo, Gibraltar and Monaco will get underway on Saturday.
