    Shakhnazarov completes U16 Division C MVP double for Armenia

    ANDORRA LA VELLA (FIBA U16 European Championship 2017, Division C) - Following on from Anna Aslanian in the women's competition, Georgii Shakhnazarov has been named U16, Division C MVP.


    ANDORRA LA VELLA (FIBA U16 European Championship 2017, Division C) - Following on from Anna Aslanian in the women's competition, Georgii Shakhnazarov has been named U16, Division C MVP, matching the honors of his countrywoman.

    It completed a clean-sweep at U16 Division C for Armenia, who won both the men's and women's competitions. Shakhnazarov was an outstanding contributor throughout the unbeaten week for Armenia, averaging a tournament-high 28.7 points, including 36 in the Semi-Final win over Azerbaijan.

    He was joined in the All-Star Five by teammate Nikita Galtsev, who averaged a fine tournament double-double of 12.2 points and 15.5 rebounds. 

    Also making the team was the competition's second-best scorer, Papuna Kirtadze of Azerbaijan, averaging 27.8 points a night, going beyond 30 points on three occasions.

    There were smiles for the home fans when local favorite Albert Pons was announced to the team, another to average a double-double with 11 points and 12.7 rebounds.

    Completing the team was Gibraltar big man and tournament top-rebounder Alejandro Garcia Tejon, who averaged 23.7 points and 16.5 boards, enough to also give him top performer honors, with an average efficiency of 28.7 per game.
