    Lisowa Mbaka named MVP, headlines All-Star Five

    SKOPJE (FIBA U16 Women's European Championship 2017, Division B) - Belgium standout Maxuella Lisowa Mbaka was named the Most Valuable Player of the FIBA U16 Women's European Championship 2017, Division B.

    SKOPJE (FIBA U16 Women's European Championship 2017, Division B) - Belgium standout Maxuella Lisowa Mbaka was named the Most Valuable Player of the FIBA U16 Women's European Championship 2017, Division B to spearhead the All-Star Five.

    The 16-year-old forward, who guided her team to a second-place finish, averaged 19.1 points, 10.9 rebounds, 3.4 steals and 2.9 assists per game and led the entire tournament in efficiency with an average ranking of 26.3.

    Lisowa Mbaka was the top scorer in the gold-medal game with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to her name, but Belgium came up short 74-73 against Denmark despite erasing a 24-point deficit in the second half.

    Belgium also had another representative in the All-Star Five in 15-year-old Sam Van Buggenhout, who was the competition's leading scorer with an average of 20.4 points per game.

    Having led her team in scoring, gold medalist Malene Pedersen of Denmark, was also recognized for her excellent play, and was joined on the All-Star Five by Ioanna Chatzileonti from the third-placed Greece and Awak Kuier of Finland.
