VENEZIA ON FIRE AS SCHIO ROLLED OVER
It was a famous victory for EuroCup Women club Reyer Venezia, as they rolled over Schio in a result that will make people sit up and take notice. While the visitors were short-handed and without key players such as Isabelle Yacoubou, it was still a fabulous triumph for the home side.
Venezia are now above their rivals in the standings after the wheels came crashing off for Schio in a 25-8 final quarter, as Ashley Walker finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the joyous home side.
Elsewhere, Passalacqua Ragusa improved their position with a tight 65-61 win against Battipaglia, with Astou Ndour making a noise by corralling 17 points and 13 rebounds.
BOUDERRA STILL BRINGING IT
It's been a terrific 2016 for Amel Bouderra and the play-making ace has thrust Flammes Carolo Basket into the forefront of the French League title race with another stunning effort.
The reigning LFB Player of the Year continues to shine in 2016-17. Fresh from helping her side post an unbeaten EuroCup Women Regular Season, the guard racked up a majestic double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds as Carolo claimed a thrilling 94-90 overtime success at Mondeville.
It was even more significant as Tango Bourges lost again after going down 77-70 at Cavigal Nice who go from strength to strength - helped by the powerful Victoria Macaulay who grabbed 27 points and 13 rebounds.
There was also a setback for another EuroLeague Women side in ESBVA-LM, who were undone 74-67 on their home floor by Nantes Reze as Katherine Plouffe posted an impressive 21 points and 11 rebounds for the visitors.
Basket Landes and BLMA both gained from those losses along with Carolo Basket. The former won 66-56 at Lyon as Celine Dumerc corralled 12 points and 8 assists, while BLMA prevailed 64-58 at UFAB-49 Angers.
MORE MISERY FOR MERSIN
A week after beating Fenerbahce and riding a serious peak, it was back to another domestic disappointment for winless EuroLeague Women side Mersin. They were beaten heavily 75-56 at Yakin Dogu Universitesi as Courtney Vandersloot top scored with 18 points for the victorious hosts.
While they have found form in EuroLeague Women, Hatay BSB continue to show indifferent form in their own league as they were dropped 77-59 by Fenerbahce as Anastasiya Verameyenka added 15 points, eight boards and six assists for the visitors.
Galatasaray won the Istanbul derby against Besiktas by 74-62, as Yvonne Anderson scored 19 points, with Bellona Agu also winning after outpacing MBK Dogus Hastanesi 90-86.
Meanwhile, Samsun continue to struggle as they crashed 82-64 at Girne Universitesi after being torched by 20 points from Cappie Pondexter.
UNIQA SOPRON TAKE THE ADVANTAGE IN HUNGARY
Reigning champions Uniqa Sopron took a major step on the path to successfully defending their crown in the Hungarian Championship after they won a thrilling match-up with arch title rivals PEAC-Pecs.
The visitors grabbed the points with a dramatic 82-80 victory as Yvonne Turner netted a team-high 20 points.
CMB Cargo Uni Gyor kept themselves firmly in the title race with a convincing 87-71 success against Vasas Akaedmia, as Zsofia Hruscakova erupted for 27 points and added 11 rebounds.
There was still no success for EuroCup Women competitors PINKK Pesci 424 as their nightmare campaign continued with a defeat against MTK, as they slipped to 1-9 at the foot of the table.
2017 COPA DE LA REINA ALL SET
The six teams who will contest the Liga Femenina’s Copa De La Reina from 10-12 February have been confirmed.
EuroLeague Women side Perfumerias Avenida and EuroCup Women performers Spar Citylift Girona have been pitched straight into the Semi-Finals, where they will be matched against two of the other four entrants in Lointek Gernika, Lacturale Araski, CB Al-Qazeres and Star Center UniFerrol.
Avenida continue to lead the Spanish League after winning 70-52 at Spar Gran Canaria, while six players returned double-digits in points for Girona as they won 85-67 at home to IDK Gipuzkoa.
ELSEWHERE IN EUROPE
UMMC Ekaterinburg eased their way past Dynamo Novosibirsk 74-56 in the Russian Premier League, with Maria Vadeeva completing a super double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds for Dynamo Kursk who swept aside Kazanochka 111-53.
CCC Polkowice are back in trouble in the BLK after they suffered another defeat when going down 74-71 at Widzew Lodz. Wisla Can-Pack are still in pole position after Meighan Simmons scored 23 points in a 72-66 triumph at MKK Siedlce.
