GYOR (EuroLeague Women) - CMB Cargo Uni Gyor are going to have to stand up and be counted when they attempt to complete a giant EuroLeague Women 2017 upset against the visiting Fenerbahce.

Still without a win in four years in the tournament and currently on an eye-watering 26-game losing skid in European club competitions, there were some green shoots of recovery in their previous outing at Schio as they pushed the Italians hard in a 77-65 loss.

However, one of the main issues was the physicality of their opponents, with Endene Miyem putting Gyor to the sword with an excellent showing for the hosts. Now it's another French frontcourt talent heading in their direction as Sandrine Gruda steps out with Fenerbahce having had a terrific debut last week.

The visitors' impressive rotation in the paint also includes Jantel Lavender, Anastasiya Verameyenka and Esra Ural.

"The defence managed to slow down the Italians, but the physical disadvantage eventually showed up," mused Gyor head coach, Peter Volgyi in the wake of his team’s efforts in Schio.

"Our start in EuroLeague Women has not been good with these two losses and while we played better than in our first match, we didn’t manage to find that first win."

Anna Lakloth echoed the words of her coach and stressed, "In the second half against Schio we pushed hard, but the home team found many more rebounds than us."

Now set to go up against one of the tournament favourites, it will be imperative that Gyor raise their game physically if they want to spring a major surprise against their illustrious and unbeaten opponents.

They can also take heart from the fact that they have had a relatively strong start in the Hungarian League and their EuroLeague Women schedule of ZVVZ USK Prague, Beretta Famila Schio and Fenerbahce in their opening three games is about as tough as it gets for any club making a return to the competition.
