    MUNICH (Germany) - The last day of the FIBA U16 Women's European Challengers saw host nation Slovakia crowned champions of the Piestany Challenger while Faith Ehi Etute was rewarded with the MVP accolade for her work in a  Luxembourg jersey.

    - Slovakia beat Switzerland in a dramatic finish to the tournament to take the title.
    - Luxembourg are led by MVP Faith Ehi Etute as they beat Ireland to finish the competition with a victory having lost their first four games

    Day 8 results: There was drama in the very last game of the U16 Challengers as Slovakia had to come from behind to take a thrilling 68-66 win against Switzerland, holding their collective breath as their opponents missed a shot to force overtime. The win ensured the home nation completed their campaign without a loss to their name. Natasa Tausova was the pick of the crop with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists.

    Israel had been looking on course for the potential title after opening up their campaign with three victories, but the wheels came off after they closed out with two losses. It included a 52-43 last day reverse at the hands of Romania as Ioana David added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals.

    Meanwhile an astonishing display from tournament MVP Faith Ehi Etute paved the way for Luxembourg signing off their campaign on a winning note. After four straight losses, they used the last day of the tournament to collect a first victory after overcoming Ireland 57-46. Etute contributed a spectacular 45 efficiency rating after posting 24 points, 21 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals.

    All other Challengers concluded as below on Saturday August 14 with France, Spain, Slovenia, Russia and Germany set to join hosts Hungary at the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2022 in Debrecen.
