MUNICH (EuroLeague Women) - Victor Lapena is heading to Orenburg to take up the Nadezhda coaching position and he already knows the roster he will be working with during the new EuroLeague Women season.

Nadezhda have continued the trend of Russian clubs appointing Spanish coaches by asking Lapena to pick up the coaching reins for the 2018-19 season. The playcaller was previously coaching in Liga Femenina at Mann Filter of Zaragoza.

Lapena follows in the footsteps of his compatriot Miguel Mendez who landed in Ekaterinburg earlier this year to deliver the EuroLeague Women and Russian Premier League titles. He will also get to go up against his Spanish national team colleague and one of his closest friends in Lucas Mondelo, who looks set to continue at Dynamo Kursk.

Lapena will have a mix of existing Nadezhda personnel, including Spanish guard Sandra Ygueravide, and some new arrivals which are headlined by WNBA duo Adut Bulgak and Erika Wheeler, with Olga Novikova also coming in from Dynamo Novosibirsk.

As well as Ygueravide coming back on board, there will also be a return for WNBA center Brionna Jones who had a terrific debut season in 2017-18, plus the Russian contingent of Anastasia Shillova, Zhosselina Maiga, Ksenia Tikhonenko, Viktoria Medvedeva, Ekaterina Fedorenkova and Tatiana Burik.
