    Ambitious Besiktas beat Panathinaikos, Awak has block party with Reyer

    MUNICH (Germany) - There was plenty to enjoy on Wednesday night as the EuroCup Women action continued with headline grabbing double overtime game between Zabiny Brno and Flammes Carolo Basket.

    MUNICH (Germany) - Besiktas showed they're ready for a deep run in the competition after winning at Panathinaikos AC, while Umana Reyer Venezia stayed perfect behind a stellar seven blocks from Awak Kuier.

    The events of Thursday night in the competition followed on from a highly eventful evening 24 hours earlier, making the third week of action the most memorable of the season so far.

    There was joy for Besiktas as they showed they could be in line to make a move towards the latter stages by taking a 71-62 road triumph at Panathinaikos AC.

    Despite Jazmine Jones showing out for the hosts with 22 points and 14 rebounds, the visitors had too much.  They took the win led by Dana Evans, who showed why she is a scoring machine with another 30 points to her season total.

    Another Istanbul giant in the shape of Galatasaray Cagdas Factoring were one of a number of clubs who showed their potential title credentials by staying unbeaten. A breathtaking display by Myisha Hines-Allen was the talking point as they won with ease 87-57 at Kirbirkstis behind 30 points 18 rebounds and 5 assists from their star baller.

    London Lions are also rolling strongly as they raced past Rutronik Stars Keltern 93-50 in Germany. Holly Winterburn went to absolute work as she moved towards triple-double territory with 16 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. 

    Umana Reyer Venezia also kept their proud unbeaten record intact as they claimed an eye-catching 80-64 victory at Bursa Uludag Basketbol. Finnish center Awak Kuier wrote the headline with a spectacular 7 blocks to lead the way - also coming up with 12 points and 7 rebounds.

    Wednesday, October 25

    Zabiny Brno and Flammes Carolo Basket produced some sensational entertainment when they met as the former claimed a memorable 76-70 double overtime win. Brno took the win, in a big team effort with four players in double-digits for points, led by 14 from Elissa Cunane who also had 8 boards and 4 assists.

    Kelsey Bone was sensational again for Antalya BSB Toroslar BC as she continued her incredible season with 27 points and 17 boards in a 14-point comeback against KP TANY Brno. The Turkish side dug out a nerve-shredding 79-77 success, with Aisha Sheppard also superb as she added a stellar 31 points, 6 boards and 4 assists.

    Tango Bourges Basket and Spar Girona showed their teeth with the former victorious 93-59 at home to BBC Grengewald as Kayla Alexander posted a powerful 16 points and 17 rebounds, with Kamile Nacickaite netting 21 points.

    Meanwhile, Spar Girona won 68-53 at Piestanske Cajky as Kelsey Mitchell impressed with 19 points.
