MUNICH (Germany) - Gameday 5 of the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 Qualifiers ended with 22 of the 24 spots in next summer's tournament filled. The games across Europe were filled with drama and outstanding performances.
Here is a look at the five best individual showings in the games on Friday and Saturday.
Emir Sulejmanovic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy's Michele Vitali, Jonathan Barreiro of Spain, Turkey's Alperen Sengun and AJ Slaughter of Poland make up the Team of Gameday 5 in the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 Qualifiers.
Sulejmanovic played a massive role in Bosnia and Herzegovina defeating Greece 84-69 with 23 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals for an efficiency of 36.
While Sulejmanovic was able to celebrate with a win, Vitali was not as fortunate despite an outstanding performance in Italy’s 105-101 overtime loss to Estonia. He collected 24 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals for an efficiency of 34.
Barreiro did plenty of everything for Spain in their 89-88 victory over Poland, collecting a 31 efficiency for his 24 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
The 18-year-old Sengun was unstoppable for Turkey in the 88-80 win over Sweden with 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. Sengun made just 7-of-14 free throws otherwise he would have had a higher efficiency than 30.
Slaughter meanwhile scored 27 points to go with 2 rebounds and 2 assists for an efficiency of 26 in Poland’s 89-88 loss to Spain.
