    Serbia play the Joker card: NBA MVP Jokic set for EuroBasket debut

    BELGRADE (Serbia) - Nikola Jokic is set to suit up for the national team this summer, and feature at a FIBA EuroBasket tournament for the first time in his career.

    BELGRADE (Serbia) - Nikola Jokic is set to suit up for the national team this summer, and feature at a FIBA EuroBasket tournament for the first time in his career, after his availability was confirmed by the Basketball Federation of Serbia.

    The back-to-back NBA MVP winner last played for the team at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 in China having previously competed at the Rio Olympics in 2016.

    Jokic has developed into one of the world's best players after continuing to elevate his game at the Denver Nuggets with averages of 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds and 7.9 assists per game during the 2021-22 NBA season.

    The 27-year-old center provides a major boost for the title hopes of Serbia at FIBA EuroBasket 2022 as they look to improve upon their runners-up finish five years  ago in 2017.

    Jokic is also expected to be available for Serbia as the Second Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers commences in August.

    In the 2019 tournament, Jokic averaged 11.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game as Serbia finished in fifth place with six wins from their eight games.
