    FIBA EuroBasket 2017 pays off for host cities

    MUNICH (FIBA EuroBasket 2017) - An economic impact report following FIBA's flagship European basketball event, FIBA EuroBasket, has shone a positive light on the economics of hosting a major sporting event

    MUNICH (FIBA EuroBasket 2017) - An economic impact report following FIBA's flagship European basketball event, FIBA EuroBasket 2017, has shone a positive light on the economics of hosting a major sporting event.

    The report, which was conducted by Price Waterhouse Cooper on behalf of FIBA Europe found that all four host cities - Cluj-Napoca, Helsinki, Istanbul and Tel Aviv - received a significant economic boost as a result of hosting the 18-day basketball extravaganza.

    Istanbul, on account of hosting a group during the Group Phase, then the Final Phase, unsurprisingly benefited the most. The key findings from the report are detailed in the below graphic:
