LJUBLJANA (FIBA EuroBasket 2017) - Slovenia have a potent new weapon at FIBA EuroBasket 2017 following the naturalization of big man Anthony Randolph.

A 6ft 9in (2.11m) forward, Randolph will bolster a roster that will have his Real Madrid teammate, Luka Doncic, as well as the Dragic brothers, Goran and Zoran.

"I'm glad I have got a chance to play for Slovenia," he said. "This represents a major new challenge in my career. I will try my best to justify the confidence which has been shown in me from the Basketball Federation of Slovenia and coach Igor Kokoskov."

Randolph averaged 8 points and 4 rebounds for Real in the Spanish Liga Endesa and 10.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in the EuroLeague.

A sweet-shooting big man, Randolph hit 36.7 percent (29-of-79) of his attempts from the arc in the European competition.

"Anthony Randolph is a great asset to our team as he plays in a position where we have a smaller selection of players," Slovenian Basketball Federation president Matej Erjavec said. "We thank the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, which enabled for Randolph to play in a Slovenian jersey. I'm sure Randolph will justify our confidence. We want a long-term and successful cooperation."

Slovenia will play in Group A in Helsinki against Finland, Poland, France, Greece and Iceland.
