    Wiscart-Goetz replaces U16 top scorer Blanc on France team

    PARIS (2016 FIBA U17 World Championship) - France will be without their leading scorer from last summer’s U16 team at the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championship as head coach Frederic Chapez replaced Yanik Blanc with Tom Wiscart-Goetz on his final 12-man roster. 

    Chapez announced the change just three days before France will start the U17 Worlds in Zaragoza, where Les Bleus will face Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dominican Republic and Korea in Group D.

    Blanc was the only France player in double figures at the 2015 FIBA U16 European Championship with 12.8 points, while also contributing 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists. 

    Blanc was with the French team at the U17 Worlds warm-up tournament in Auch last week, scoring six points to go with nine points in France’s win over Canada in the first game. He played 1:51 minutes in France’s second game against Argentina and did not play in the final warm-up versus Australia.

    Wiscart-Goetz averaged 3.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists last summer at the FIBA U16 European Championship.
