MUNICH (Germany) - The 32-team field of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers was confirmed on Wednesday, with the conclusion of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Pre-Qualifiers Second Round.
North Macedonia and Slovakia claimed the last two of the coveted berths that were still available going into the final night of Pre-Qualifiers action, joining the six teams that had secured their tickets on previous days.
The eight nations that advanced from the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Pre-Qualifiers Second Round are:
Belarus
Iceland
Latvia
Montenegro
North Macedonia
Portugal
Slovakia
Sweden
They will join in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers the 24 nations that had already reserved their place by virtue of earning participation in the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 Final Round.
Those 24 nations are: Belgium; Bosnia and Herzegovina; Bulgaria; Croatia; Czech Republic; Estonia; Finland; France; Georgia; Germany; Great Britain; Greece; Hungary; Israel; Italy; Lithuania; Poland; Netherlands; Russia; Serbia; Slovenia; Spain; Turkey and Ukraine.
Through the Qualifiers, 12 European nations will earn a ticket to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
The Draw for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifiers will be conducted at 12:00 CET on Tuesday, August 31 and will be broadcast live on the FIBA YouTube channel.
Set to take place in Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines, the 2023 edition of the FIBA Basketball World Cup will mark the first time that the showpiece event is staged in multiple countries.
