    Permutations: Who will qualify or be eliminated on August 30?

    MANILA (Philippines) - There has been no lack of drama at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 and we're heading for even more excitement with do-or-die games approaching in Groups B, C, F and G.

    MANILA (Philippines) - There has been no lack of drama at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 and we're heading for even more excitement with do-or-die games approaching in Groups B, C, F and G.

    Seven teams from these groups – Canada, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Spain and USA – have already booked their tickets to the Second Round on Sunday, while seven more have been eliminated from contention for the title.

    Here's a look at the situation in these groups ahead of August 30. We've done the math, so you don't have to!

    Group B

    Serbia

    SRB would qualify to the Second Round if: 

    -SRB beat SSD

    OR

    -SRB lose to SSD and
    -CHN beat PUR

    OR

    -SRB lose to SSD by 28 points or less and
    -PUR beat CHN

    Puerto Rico

    PUR would qualify to the Second Round if:

    -PUR beat CHN and
    -SRB beat SSD

    OR 

    -PUR beat CHN and
    -SSD beat SRB by 30 points or more.

    South Sudan

    SSD would qualify for the Second Round if: 

    -SSD beat SRB

    OR 

    -SSD lose to SRB and
    -CHN beat PUR by 34 points or less

    China

    CHN would qualify for the Second Round if: 

    -CHN beat PUR by 36 points or more and 
    -SRB beat SSD

    Group C

    USA and Jordan

    USA have already qualified for the Second Round and will finish first of their group.

    Jordan are already out of contention for the title and will finish fourth of their group.

    Greece and New Zealand

    The winner of GRE v NZL will finish second in the group and qualify to the Second Round and the loser will be out of contention for the title and third of their group.

    Slovenia

    SLO would be eliminated from contention for the title if: 

    -SLO lose to CPV by 24 points or more and
    -GEO beat VEN

    All others scenarios would qualify Slovenia for the Second Round. 

    Cape Verde

    CPV would qualify to the Second Round if:

    -CPV beat SLO and
    -VEN beat GEO

    OR 

    -CPV beat SLO by 24 points or more and
    -GEO beat VEN

    Georgia

    GEO would qualify to the Second Round if:

    -GEO beat VEN

    OR 

    -GEO lost to VEN by 15 points or less and
    -SLO beat CPV

    Venezuela

    VEN would qualified for the Second Round if: 

    -VEN beat GEO by 16 points or more and
    -SLO beat CPV

    All others scenarios would eliminate Venezuela from contention to the title.

    Group G

    The winner of BRA v CIV will finish second in the group and qualify to the Second Round and the loser will be out of contention for the title and third of their group.
