    Last chance saloon - what teams must do to qualify for World Cup

    Only 10 open spots remain for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 after Brazil, Senegal, Italy and Poland brought to 22 the number of known teams. Here is a breakdown of who can still qualify and how.

    MIES (Switzerland) - There are only 10 open spots remaining for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 after Brazil, Italy, Poland and Senegal secured their places at the 32-team showpiece event on Thursday and Friday.

    The four latest teams to book their tickets for China 2019 brought the number of known teams to 22 (hosts China and 21 qualified teams), leaving just 10 precious berths up for grabs in the action to come as the World Cup Qualifiers draw to a close with the conclusion of the sixth and final window over the course of Sunday and Monday.

    Americas (5 of 7): Argentina, Brazil, Canada, USA, Venezuela

    Here is a breakdown of what the remaining World Cup hopefuls across Africa, Americas, Asia and Europe need to do to qualify.

    AFRICA

    Cote d'Ivoire qualify if:

    they win against Mali by at least 13 points, OR by exactly 12 points and score at least 136 points. [/unordered]

    Cameroon qualify if:

    if Cote d'Ivoire fail to achieve the above. [/unordered]

    AMERICAS

    Puerto Rico qualify if:

    they beat Uruguay OR they lose to Uruguay, Dominican Republic lose in Group F AND Puerto Rico have a better overall point differential than Dominican Republic. [/unordered]

    Uruguay qualify if:

    they beat Puerto Rico. [/unordered]

    Dominican Republic qualify if:

    they beat Brazil OR they lose to Brazil, BUT Puerto Rico beat Uruguay in Group E OR they lose to Brazil, Uruguay beat Puerto Rico in Group E BUT Dominican Republic have a better overall point differential than Puerto Rico. [/unordered]

    ASIA

    As stipulated in the regulations, the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 hosts China are not included to determine the final standings, which will see Jordan and Lebanon place either third or fourth. However, all results related to the games of China shall be taken into account.

    Jordan qualify directly if:

    they beat New Zealand OR Lebanon lose to Korea. [/unordered]

    Lebanon qualify directly if:

    they beat Korea AND Jordan lose to New Zealand. [/unordered]

     Japan qualify directly if:

    they beat Qatar OR Philippines lose to Kazakhstan OR Iran lose to Australia. [/unordered]

    Iran qualify directly if:

    they beat Australia OR Japan beat Qatar OR Philippines lose to Kazakhstan. [/unordered]

    Philippines qualify directly if:

    they beat Kazakhstan AND Japan lose to Qatar. [/unordered]

    If tied with Jordan -> Philippines qualify; If tied with Lebanon (If Lebanon lose on Sunday) -> Philippines qualify; If tied with Lebanon (if Lebanon win on Sunday) -> same record, Lebanon are now +82 in point diff. in comparison to Philippines [/unordered]

     IF Philippines lose AND are fourth, there are 3 scenarios:

    If tied with Jordan -> same record, Jordan are now +63 in point diff. in comparison to Philippines If tied with Lebanon (if Lebanon lose on Sunday) -> same record, Lebanon are now +82 in point diff. in comparison to Philippines  If tied with Lebanon (if Lebanon win on Sunday) -> Lebanon qualify.      IF Japan are fourth, there are 3 scenarios:

    IF Iran are fourth, there are 3 scenarios:

    EUROPE

    Montenegro qualify if:

    they beat Latvia OR they lose by no more than 8 points. [/unordered]

    Latvia qualify if:

    they beat Montenegro by 9 points or more. [/unordered]

    Russia qualify if:

    they beat Finland OR they lose by no more than 2 points. [/unordered]

    Finland qualify if:

    they beat Russia by 3 points or more. [/unordered]

    Serbia qualify if:

    they beat Israel OR they lose to Israel by no more than 21 points AND Georgia beats Estonia; [/unordered]

    Israel qualify if:

    they beat Serbia AND Estonia beat Georgia; they beat Serbia by 22 points or more. [/unordered]
