ATHENS (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers) - Greece have named guards Kostas Sloukas and Nick Calathes and young talent Tyler Dorsey in their squad for the third window of Qualifiers.

ATHENS (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers) - Undefeated Greece have named veteran guards Kostas Sloukas and Nick Calathes as well as exciting young talent Tyler Dorsey in their squad for the third window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers.

Also on the 24-player list are veteran center Ioannis Bourousis and three recently crowned Basketball Champions League winners in Dusan Sakota, Panagiotis Vasilopoulos and Giannoulis Larentzakis of AEK.

Bourousis has been immense in the Qualifiers, putting the Greeks on his back twice in victories over Great Britain.

    ...
Another hero from that win over Great Britain, Ioannis Athinaiou, is among the 24. Athinaiou buried a late game-winning 3-pointer in overtime in the first game against the Brits.

Sakota and Vasilopoulos are among several players named in the Greek squad to have played in all four games of the Qualifiers to date.

Sacramento Kings center Kostas Koufos, who last played for Greece at the 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT) in Turin, has been named among the 24 but fellow NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo of the  Milwaukee Bucks has not. Like Koufos, he last represented his country two years ago at the OQT.

Greece will take on Israel in Tel Aviv on June 28 and then at Estonia in Tallinn on July 2.

Sloukas and Calathes, two of the best guards in Europe, performed well at last summer's FIBA EuroBasket 2017.

Sloukas was a scintillating 17 of 29 from three-point range at the tournament. His best game came against Lithuania in the Round of 16, with a performance that lifted Greece in the Quarter-Finals.

    ...
Calathes also had a string of strong performances. He had 24 points and 10 assists in a Group Phase triumph over Poland, 14 points and 6 assists in the win over Lithuania and 25 points in Greece's narrow defeat to Russia in the Quarter-Finals.

    ...
The two have yet to scale the heights of international basketball with Greece, however.

Dorsey, who just finished his NBA rookie season with the Atlanta Hawks, was a standout performer for Greece when they hosted the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship in Crete and finished fourth.

    ...
Sakota, the captain of AEK, was a crucial player in their Greek Cup and Basketball Champions League Double-winning campaign.

He famously hit a three-pointer at the end of his team's last Regular Season game against medi Bayreuth to put AEK in the Play-Offs.

    ...
Sakota later poured in 15 points in the 77-75 victory over UCAM Murcia at the Final Four and then 16 points in the 100-94 title game triumph over AS Monaco Basket.
