    India advance to Asia Cup 2021 Qualifying Tournament for third-ranked teams from Group D

    MANAMA (Bahrain) - India successfully advance to the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifying Tournament for third-ranked teams following their thrilling win over Iraq at the buzzer, 81-78.

    MANAMA (Bahrain) - India successfully advance to the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifying Tournament for third-ranked teams following their thrilling win over Iraq at the buzzer, 81-78.

    The win gives India a 2-3 record, while Iraq fall to 1-4. In addition, the victory also clinches the third-placed spot in the standings of Group D for India as they now hold a 2-0 head-to-head tiebreaker advantage over Iraq.

    The six teams that finish at third-place in the standings of each group at the end of the Asia Cup Qualifiers will advance to the Qualifying Tournament for third-ranked teams. From there, the tournament will qualify the remaining teams to fill out the 16 team playing field of Asia Cup 2021.

    Indonesia have already qualified for Asia Cup 2021 as hosts of the competition. Meanwhile, Lebanon and Bahrain have qualified after clinching the top two spots in the standings of Group F back at the Manama bubble in November 2020.
