The tournament will be held in Bahrain’s capital city of Manama from 11 to 15 September 2018. Five teams — Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Gulf Zone), Palestine (West Asian Zone), Sri Lanka and Bangladesh (South Asian Zone) — will be in action.

Key matchups
The tournament will tip off on 11th September with Palestine taking on Bangladesh at 5pm local time, followed by hosts Bahrain vs Sri Lanka at 7pm.

The tournament will be played in a round robin format with each day witnessing a double header.
Palestine (WR-96), Bahrain (WR-108) and Saudi Arabia (WR-123) are the top three ranked teams, followed by Sri Lanka (WR-140) and Bangladesh (WR-147).
The Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh game on 12th September and the matchup between GBA rivals Saudi Arabia vs Bahrain on 14th might well be crucial in the larger context of the tournament.
The Western Region Pre-Qualifiers is the second stage of qualification for the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers. The top four among these five teams will progress to the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers, to be held in November 2019.
