    Sienna Lehmann crowned MVP, leads Perkins, Kanazawa, Abe, Peng in All-Star Five

    AMMAN (Jordan) - Sienna Lehmann capped off her solid campaign in the FIBA U16 Women's Asian Championship 2023 by earning Most Valuable Player honors.

    AMMAN (Jordan) - Sienna Lehmann capped off her solid campaign in the FIBA U16 Women's Asian Championship 2023 by earning Most Valuable Player honors.

    The 1.72 M (5'8") winger averaged 11.8 on 63-percent field goal shooting, alongside 4.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 2.8 steals for an efficiency rating of 17.7 as she played a vital role in the Sapphires' conquest of the tournament for the third consecutive time.

    She submitted her best performance of the tilt in the Final, finishing with 20 markers, 4 boards, 2 dimes, a steal, and a block to help her side beat Japan, 80-74.

    Lehmann bannered the tournament's All-Star Five, where she's joined by teammate Ruby Perkins, the Japanese tandem of An Kanazawa and Kokona Abe, and Chinese Taipei's Yu Chen Peng.

    Perkins was also key in Australia's three-peat as she normed 14.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 3.2 steals for an efficiency rating of 20.2 - third-best in the tournament. She turned in her best outing of the meet versus Chinese Taipei, dropping 25 to lead her side to the Semi-Finals.

    Meanwhile, Kanazawa finished the tilt as the Akatsuki's leading scorer with 15.8 points, highlighted by a 24-point performance against Samoa to start off their campaign on a high note.

    Abe, on the other hand, was her squad's best rebounder with 6.6 a game. She finished her campaign with numbers of 13.4 points, including 22 in the title game, 1.6 assists, and 1.4 steals.

    Lastly, Peng was key in Chinese Taipei's return to the Semis after missing the previous two with averages of 11.2 points, a tourney sixth-best 7.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 4.2 steals.
