BENGALURU (FIBA U16 Women's Asia Championship 2017) - The U16 women's squads of Nepal and Maldives made history today as the first ones to play at any continental level FIBA Asia tournament.

No teams from Nepal and Maldives have ever competed at this level in the past, but that changed today when both countries took to the court at Bengaluru to play their inaugural FIBA U16 Women's Asia Championship 2017 games.

Maldives were on the losing end against Malaysia, 130-14, while Nepal fell way short against hosts India, 106-37, but the losses did not dampen the spirits of either team.

No matter the endgame results, both teams can take solace in the fact that they made history and, more importantly, have laid the groundwork for future national teams to participate at this level.
