"This is a great group. Not only for this tournament but for the future. They have discipline, good height and that is what will take them to another level. I am sure that these names will be heard in the future," said Omar González, coach of the Puerto Rican U18 National Team.

"We have a team with a lot of tall and athletic players for the age group. They perform well on the court and are responsible on the defensive side. There is a lot of movement of the ball and everyone touches the ball. Actually, this is a team that covers all the disciplines of the game. We will try to minimize the turnovers," added Gonzalez.

The FIBA U18 Americas Championship will run June 10-16 and the Puerto Ricans will begin the continental championship with a match-up against Panama. The Boricuas will then face The Dominican Republic and USA, to close-out the Group Phase of the competition.

The top four teams from the FIBA U18 Americas Championship will qualify to the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2018.
