SANTIAGO (FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2018) - Chile qualified to the FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2018 with its historic merits as South American U17 Champion, and the first to praise the team's experiences is coach, Galo Lara.
Chile will travel to St Catharines, Canada, to participate on the continental championship from June 10-16.
"The FIBA U18 Americas Championship will be a tournament with highly prepared teams. We are aware that it will represent a great challenge for our team, but we have faith and confidence in the things we can achieve. The important thing will not be the groups, but the crosses in the Quarter-Finals," said Chilean U18 Head Coach Galo Lara in the official website of the Chilean Basketball Federation.
Regarding the rivals of the Group Phase, the coach highlighted the quality of each of the teams in Group B of the FIBA U18 Americas Championship.
"We are in a group with Canada, Argentina and Ecuador, and we have the possibility of obtaining good results. We know that Canada is at another level. Argentina is a strong team. While it is true that we defeated them last year, we must respect that team. Ecuador is a team that will not be easy to defeat, because their level has been rising in recent years," added Lara.
In the Groups Phase of the FIBA U18 Americas Championship, the Chileans will face Argentina on June 10, Ecuador on June 11 and the hosts, Canada on June 12.
All teams will advance to the Quarter-Finals, to be played on June 14. The Semi-Finals will be played on June 15 and the Final on June 16.
The top-four teams of the continental championship will qualify to the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2019.
