    Final rosters confirmed for the 2023 FIBA AfroCan

    LUANDA (Angola) - The final 12-players rosters for teams competing at the 2023 FIBA AfroCan were confirmed on the eve of the event in Luanda, Angola on Friday. 

     

    LUANDA (Angola) - The final 12-players rosters for teams competing at the 2023 FIBA AfroCan were confirmed on the eve of the event in Luanda, Angola on Friday. 

    The tournament starts on Saturday, July 8 and finishes on Sunday, July 16 with all 28 games being played at Kilamba Arena, on the outskirts of the Angolan capital Luanda.

    Group A: KENYA, GABON, COTE D'IVOIRE
    Group B: ANGOLA, NIGERIA, MALI
    Group C: MOROCCO, TUNISIA, RWANDA
    Group D: MOZAMBIQUE, DR CONGO, CAMEROON

    The first game of the tournament will see Kenya - runner-sup in 2019 - taking on Cote d'Ivoire.

    COMPETITION SYSTEM - Teams are divided into four groups of three teams each. The teams that finish in the first places of Groups A,B,C and D, qualify directly to the Quarter-Finals.

    The teams that finish in second and third places of each group will have a second chance to remain in competition by playing the Qualification Round to the Quarter-Finals, where the losing teams will be eliminated. 

    The four semifinalists qualify automatically to the 2027 FIBA AfroCan while the losing teams of the Quarter-Finals will compete for the Fifth to Eight-Place in the Classification Round.
